Wishlist | Fitness

Since taking on my no spend challenge at the beginning of January, I have done very well and haven't bought anything unnecessary - clothes, makeup etc. However, this means I have been lusting after so many clothes as of late. This is my current fitness wishlist:

Review | Simple Deep Cleansing Face Mask

It's not often I discover an amazing skincare product but by chance I was browsing the aisles in Superdrug just before Christmas in need of good face mask and came across Simple Deep Cleansing Face Mask (£2.66, 75ml). My skin has always been an issue for me, whether it has been redness or spots. I'm always wary of what skincare I use on my face now that my skin has cleared up in the last few years, it is as if I am scared just in case something really breaks me out. However, I thought I would give Simple's face mask a go. It says it is for sensitive skin and I have used Simple's products in the past and have had no trouble - (their eye-makeup remover, toner and light moisturiser). After the first couples of uses, I was pleasantly surprised. For such an affordable price, the mask proved itself. The product itself comes out of the tube as a cream but is in no means a 'greasy' cream (one thing I'm always wary of battling with oily skin).  I applied just enough to cover my entire face whilst in the shower. I washed my hair etc whilst I let the product penetrate my pores. It says that it is deep cleansing and I totally agree, your face feels fresh and revived after every use which is exactly what I want in a face mask. After I washed it off with warm water, I moisturised with my Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel and my skin felt amazing. If you are looking for a new face mask to try out, for all different skin types, I would point you in this direction, such an amazing product for such an affordable price, Well Done Simple!

What are some of your favourite face masks? Let me know, I love discovering new products!

Fitness | My Top 5 Favourite Workout Videos

Everyone likes a good work out and Youtube is an ideal place to find workout videos that are free where you can workout alongside fitness experts in the comfort of your own front room. If you can't afford a gym membership (they can be pretty pricey these days), or fancy exploring new ways to work out, Youtube is the place to go. There are thousands of different workout videos to choose from, from beginners to advanced, with the use of a variety of equipment if not any.

Whilst at University I went to the gym everyday because it was cheap and I lived extremely close. Now that I'm back living at home, I use Youtube very often to help me develop new routines and add new exercises to my routine if I'm looking to focus on one specific part of my body - usually my bum! So here are five of my most favourite exercise videos I use currently.

My bum is my most problematic area and so I like to focus on toning it up when I'm exercising. I often do a variety of squats with my 8kg Kettlebell which really help tone up my glutes and give me a more shapely bottom. This video with Katrina provides me with new exercises to tone and lift my bottom when I'm fancying trying something new. My favourite moves from her video are the reverse lunges and kickbacks - I find these really tone the backs of my legs and bum!

I think this is probably one of  the most challenging workouts of the bunch. It really works out the entirety of your body, not just your bottom, using a kettlebell. You can use whatever weight your comfortable with and work your way up. My favourite move from this video is definitely the kettlebell swing at the beginning because it works your arms, bum and core simultaneously.

I discovered Cassey Ho from my sister who uses her videos to work out all the time. I love this video because it works the hips, bottom and thighs - all areas which I find problematic and so this workout really pushes you, working your legs, and even your core when you are positioned in a side plank. What I love about Cassey's videos is that she provides alternative methods of the exercise if you're not quite ready to jump in and she gives you easier ways to do an exercise until you feel ready to try it the harder way.

Definitely one of my favourites from the bunch, Katrina provides a 35 minute workout full of great exercises with combined use of a kettlebell and yoga which I love the most, to help tone and strengthen your body. I think incorporating yoga in a routine like this is ideal because while it tones your body it is also helping improve your balance which is always a bonus. What more could you ask for in a workout?

This workout focuses on working out your abs and toning your belly for a smaller waistline. I always try and incorporate some sort of workout for my abs every time I work out so this 5 minute video with Natalie Jill is ideal for incorporating it into your routine as no one likes working their abs. It provides great ab exercises for beginners which is ideal for anyone starting out. My favourite exercise from her video is definitely the hand-toe touch which really works your belly muscles.

I hope I have provided a little insight into how Youtube can provide you with some great helpful videos to help workout every inch of your body. Remember that you must always warm up and stretch before every workout to ensure you don't pull any muscles.
Let me know some of your favourite Youtube workout videos? As I love discovering new ones and trying them out!

Healthy Eating | My Top Tips

Photographs in this collage have been taken from my Instagram | Follow: @emmawiths

I am by no means a nutritional expert but I would describe myself as a fairly healthy person. Don't get me wrong, I do indulge myself more often than I care to admit but I would say I eat well for     80% of the time. I still live at home with my parents so it is a bit more difficult to eat as healthy as I want when my mum is trying to feed the entire family at the same time, I cant always be fussy. However, I love to cook new things and often find myself making recipes up as I go along. I wanted to write a post that outlined my top tips for healthy eating because I know it can be difficult for a lot of us, including myself. These are a few tips that I try and keep by as much as possible to ensure I make healthy choices.

1. Eat less, often
I find eating little and often works best for me. I feel so uncomfortable when I eat large meals so I would rather have a small sandwich rather than a huge bowl of pasta. Eating less and often keeps me ticking all day, instead of consuming one heavy meal and feeling lethargic and tired.

2. Portion Control
Do you really need that second helping? or that pasta left in the saucepan? no! Eat until near full, not till you can't move! I know everyone makes this mistake, but I was once told to drink a glass of water before my meal because then I will feel full for longer and not put more on my plate than I need which has turned out to be true. Also, if your struggling with portion size, buy yourself a smaller plate and just use that when you eat so you can keep track more easily.

3. Less alcohol
Before I went to university, I was happy with my weight, it was only until second year of uni I realised how much weight I had gained. I was confused because I ate healthily. I realised it was the huge consumption of alcohol every week that was doing me no good but even though I tried to cut down I often found it difficult to so I would change the types of drinks I consumed, change cider and wine for vodka (which has less calories), and instead of mixing them with red bull I would drink orange juice or diet lemonade. Little changes make a difference! Now that I have finished University, I rarely drink and I definitely think it has made me healthier and feel better in myself.

4. Cut down on processed food
This is exactly what it says, just cut down on those bad meals you already know are bad for you. Processed curries, chips etc. Why not attempt making your own home made curry with fresh veg, it will taste a lot nicer and is much better for you.

5. Don't skip Breakfast
When I was younger I often skipped breakfast as I was more concerned with ensuring my hair was straight enough than making sure I made time to grab some sort of breakfast. I wouldn't eat anything from when I got up (7am) to nearly lunchtime in school which was 1pm and by that time I was starving. I would then find myself making bad food choices, eating my sandwiches and buying chocolate to fill me up because it was easily accessible. I have learnt my lesson over the years that I shouldn't skip breakfast as it just makes me want to eat tons throughout the day, the phrase is true 'Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!'. Very true!

6. Choose your Snacks Carefully
Snacking is definitely my downfall, but I know to avoid the chocolate (I'm lucky I don't have a sweet tooth anyway) so I often snack on fruit, cereal bars and yoghurt. I bought a Breville Blend Active juicer last year and found myself blending fruit and veg and drinking that as a sort of midday snack when I was feeling peckish.

7. Moderation is Key
I think you are able to eat what you want, within reason, in moderation. Similar to the point, eat small and often. Don't over indulge but don't hold back from eating something you really want. That one slice of home made apple pie isn't going to make you gain 10 pounds, just keep it to a minimum.

8. Plan, Plan, Plan
If you can, try and plan your meals - what you're going to eat each day so you can keep track of what you're eating and you can even save money in the supermarket by not buying things you don't need for the sake of it.

9. Preparation
During the summer especially I make sure fruit and salad is easily accessible. So when I am hungry I can grab fruit from the fridge or make a salad quickly ensuring healthy food is always on hand. I often cut up fruit and make a fruit salad and keep it in the fridge, such a refreshing snack when it is hot. I also cook chicken and keep that in the freezer so I can heat it up and pop it into salads easily. Preparing your food makes it easier for you to make healthier choices as your not tempted to eat unhealthily because that is quicker.

10. Indulge yourself...occasionally
Everyone has to indulge themselves a little at some point and have a 'cheat' day where you eat what you want. If you're eating healthily all the time it is nice to be able to have an unhealthy meal once in a while and treat yourself. As long as it is in moderation and your doing your exercise there should be no problem.

So there we go, a few tips on what I do or try to do to ensure I make healthier eating choices. Obviously this post has focused mainly on eating, so make sure you combine regular exercise with healthy eating and you should feel great!

I love Beth's blog because it's just so girly. She provides full reviews of products which often include swatches which I love, as you are able to really 'see' the product. I love her in-depth reviews she posts, especially on budget products, making you sure you know the ins and outs of products before you buy. She covers everything from beauty reviews to money saving advice and more, giving you so much variety to read. Her photography is always on point with super high quality and original photos, her blog is fantastic!

Last but not least, Josie from Fashion Mumblr. I adore Josie's blog because of her amazing photographs.
